Albanian acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj said that in the virtual meeting of the 130th Ministerial of the Committee of Ministers, a request was submitted for Kosovo`s membership in the Council of Europe.
In a Facebook post, Cakaj said that Kosovo’s support for the Council of Europe is not only historically just and politically reasonable, but also a direct contribution to strengthening democracy, the rule of law, and fundamental rights and freedoms in Europe.
“Today, in the virtual meeting of the 130th Ministerial of the Committee of Ministers, among other things, we clearly and concisely submitted the request for membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the Council of Europe! One thing is for sure: supporting the Republic of Kosovo membership in the Council of Europe is not only historically just and politically reasonable, but also a direct contribution to strengthening democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights and freedoms in Europe “, Cakaj said.
