New wave with Covid, at the moment there are no stricter measures, the situation will be monitored

The number of patients and hospitalized with Kovid-19 in the state is increasing. The situation is being monitored, for now there are no new measures, but the current measures remain the curfew from 22 to 5. If this does not give the expected results, new restrictions are not excluded for which the Commission for Infectious Diseases will decide early next week.

“We are at the peak of the third wave of the pandemic and we have a continuous increase in the number of active cases, but for now the current measure remains for the curfew to start at 22:00. Now is not the time for any mitigation of measures. On the contrary, there will be a tightening of measures at the beginning of next week, if this does not give the expected results “, said yesterday the Minister of Health Venko Filipce in the press conference with the chairman of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, Zarko Karadzovski.

As for whether there is analysis that shows whether the curfew from 22:00 to 5:00 will give results for such a fast time, given that we are in the phase of a new powerful wave of coronavirus that is spreading very much fast, Filipce said analyzes have shown that young people who group after 10pm are the main transmitters of the virus.

“In terms of how we expect the curfew to affect, epidemiological surveys and analyzes have shown that it is very likely that young people who stay and gather without respect and after the closure of hotel facilities are transmitters of the virus and this is seen through more groups. old people. What we detected during the last wave was that after imposing some measures in a period of two weeks, the results were visible, we are expecting this even now. We are now in the fifth week and if the preliminary wave lasted six to eight weeks, it means that we have passed half and in that sense we are waiting for the results at the end of this and at the beginning of next week “, assessed the minister.

Filipce reiterated that they do not even think that there will be relief of the measures, on the contrary, we would even have their aggravation sometime early next week, if this does not give the expected results.

“Everywhere in the country, somewhere more, somewhere less, there is an increase in the incidence and transmission of the virus – two jobs we consider to be the cause of this. “First, non-compliance with the measures and second, the types of virus which are less transmitted”, added the minister.
