President Meta calls on government to adopt emergency plan for massive testing

On Monday, President Ilir Meta called on the government to increase the number of tests in order to trace the spread of COVID-19.

On Twitter, the President emphasized that “testing is the only way how to have the situation under control”. 

At this critical moment of the pandemic, it is vital to increase the nr of tests. Testing is the highly effective tool for timely diagnosis, tracking & treatment of citizens affected by #COVID19.

Meta suggested following these four important steps for the massive testing of citizens:

• Doctors, nurses and supportive personnel at the forefront of the pandemic battle
• Education staff, given that testing and tracing is interrelated directly to the welfare of the children
• Elderly citizens
• Citizens with pre-existing conditions

“It is essential to test these categories as per the recommendations of WHO and other organizations”, said Meta.

The president also urged for the immediate adoption of an emergency plan as “the pandemic can be put under control and save the citizens’ lives”. / EuroNews.al
